A digital media hub from Apple that allows a TV to receive video and photos streamed over a network from any Mac or Windows computer running iTunes. Introduced in 2007 and intended mostly for enhanced-definition (ED) and high-definition (HD) sets, Apple TV attaches to the TV via HDMI or component video connections. Also called an "Apple TV set-top box," the device runs a version of the Mac OS and has a built-in hard disk. See digital media hub.
