AT keyboard connector - technical definition


Refers to the 5-pin DIN connector used on earlier PC keyboards. It was subsequently replaced with the smaller 6-pin MiniDIN connector, which is known as a "PS/2 connector" and which was first used on laptops.

AT and PS/2 Connectors

Adapters switch between AT and PS/2 connectors so that the newer keyboard can work with an old PC or an old keyboard can work with a newer PC.
