baseband - technical definition

  1. Refering to a signal in its original form, without being altered in any way, whether by modulation or conversion.
  2. A single-channel transmission system, i.e., a transmission system that supports a single transmission at any given time. All contemporary wired local area networks (LANs) are baseband. See also broadband, channel, and LAN.
