disk on module - technical definition


A flash memory chip module that provides solid state storage in small handheld devices or thin client terminals. A disk on module (DOM) is typically available in small storage capacities for mobile devices, whereas solid state disks made up of many flash chips are used in laptops. Also called a "disk on memory," it plugs into standard IDE/ATA or SATA sockets on the motherboard. See solid state disk.
