Dual-Homed System or Multi-Homed System - technical definition

A system having more than one network connection. A multi-homed system that has been compromised by crackers provides access to larger parts of the target network. In addition, multi-homed systems typically provide core services such as database and file or routing services to organizations. These features make them prime targets for crackers.
