Referring to an Internet Protocol (IP) address assigned to a host each time a connection is established, rather than being permanently assigned. Dynamic IP address assignment usually is accomplished through a router running the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) protocol, as specified in RFC 1541 and the Network Address Translation (NAT) protocol specified in RFC 3022.
