Email or electronic mail - technical definition

Anyone with Internet access can send and receive messages electronically to users all over the world. Email means “electronic mail.” Sending email can be compared to sending a letter through the regular, or snail mail, but email messages are transmitted much faster. The email capability allows almost instant communication with others having Internet access.
