geostationary - technical definition
Aligned with the earth. Refers to satellites (GEOs) that travel at the same rotational speed as the earth (they are geosynchronous) and are always the same distance from the earth. See GEO.
GEOs Rotate With the Earth
Geostationary satellites travel at earth speed and thus appear stationary. They also cover a large geographic area.
