ghosting - technical definition

In broadcast television and poorly installed cable television, the effect of seeing faint duplicate images rather than a single strong image. Ghosting is the result of multipath fading as the signal breaks into multiple elements that travel different routes from transmitter to receiver and, therefore, arrive at different times.
