home screen - technical definition
The first screen of information displayed when a PDA or smartphone is started. Also called the "home page" and "main menu," it is typically comprised of a group of icons that are clicked to activate functions. See home page and main menu.
An iPhone Home Screen
Call it the "home screen," "home page" or "main menu," this is more or less what appears when an iPhone is turned on. Home screens do differ because users add applications and rearrange icons as they please.
