Infrared intelligence was used for the 2004 Summer Olympics. The $312 million U.S. security system received audio and visual images from an electronic Web having greater than 1,000 high-resolution and infrared cameras, a sensor-equipped blimp, mobile command centers, patrol boats, and numerous vehicles. Cameras with speech-recognition software collected spoken-word information and transcribed it into text, searching for particular word patterns.
