Internal Threat - technical definition

A threat originating inside a company, government agency, or institution, and typically an exploit by a disgruntled employee denied promotion or informed of employment termination. Such exploits also can be launched by an attacker who has sought temporary employment with a target and uses social engineering skills to get on the inside.
