jabber - technical definition

Meaningless data introduced into a local area network (LAN), usually as the result of a malfunctioning transceiver, transceiver cable, or network interface card (NIC). See also LAN, NIC, and transceiver.
An XML-based instant messaging (IM) system written as an open source application by Jeremie Miller in 1998. See also IM, open source, and XML.
