Media Gateway Controller - technical definition

In voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) networks, a device responsible for the registration and management of resources at the media gateway (MG). Sometimes referred to as a call agent, call controller, or softswitch. See also media gateway, softswitch, and VoIP.
