nailed-up circuit - technical definition

Dedicated circuits sometimes are referred to as nailed-up circuits because, in bygone days, the twisted-pair copper physical circuits were literally hung from nails driven in the walls of the carrier's wire centers. See also dedicated circuit and wire center.
