NuBus - technical definition

A 32-bit bus architecture originally developed at MIT and defined as a Eurocard (9U). Apple Computer used NuBus throughout its Macintosh II series, adapting its electrical and physical specs for peripheral expansion slots. Also utilized by Texas Instruments and NeXT Computer, NuBus didn't capture wide appeal. When Apple changed to PCI in the mid-1990s, NuBus all but disappeared. See PCI.

The NuBus Card

The plugs on NuBus cards used pins rather than the edge connectors found on ISA and PCI cards.
