organic search results - technical definition

A results list from querying a search engine that is ranked entirely by the search engine's algorithms rather than due to being paid advertisements. Paid ads are always on the first page of the results, but non-paid ads are ranked based on popularity and content (see page ranking). Also called a "natural search."
