powerline Ethernet bridge - technical definition

A quick way to extend a local network into another room via the building's electrical system. A short Ethernet cable from the network router or switch plugs into one of the bridges, which plugs into an AC wall outlet. In the other room, a second bridge plugs into the wall to provide an Ethernet port for the remote computer. Powerline bridges are typically HomePlug devices. See HomePlug and powerline network. See also Wi-Fi bridge.
