SmartBase - technical definition

(1) Former name of MetaDirectory. See MetaDirectory.

(2) An earlier object extension to a Macintosh database from Smartsoft Development, Lubeck, Germany. It provided a central repository for business logic and worked with any database that supported Apple's Enterprise Objects Framework (EOF).
