snoopware - technical definition

Software that keeps track of a user's activity on the computer. Used for monitoring employees, children and spouses, snoopware can run in an undetectable stealth mode that records keystrokes and snapshots of the screen. Some snoopware programs send routine e-mails to the person who is eavesdropping, thus eliminating the need to be there in person to review the activity. See keystroke logger and spyware.
