spim or SPIM - technical definition

Unwanted instant messages, SPIM is much like e-mail spam, and can be a vehicle for viruses and other malware. Enterprise-level systems typically support strong security measures, including authentication and encryption. SPIM is covered under the same federal CAN-SPAM Act that outlaws e-mail spam in the United States. See also authentication, CAN-SPAM Act, e-mail, encryption, malware, spam, and virus.
