synchronization - technical definition
Referring to the coordination in time between a transmitter and receiver. In video communications, synchronization includes vertical and horizontal sync. Vertical sync keeps the picture from scrolling, or flipping. Horizontal synch keeps the picture from twisting. See also quadbit.
