Permits a system administrator to control access by hosts to
service daemons initiated by inetd, in.rexecd, in.rlogind, in. telnetd, and in.
tftpd. In UNIX and Linux systems, a system administrator
can configure a data packet filter
on the Internet gateway to limit
what packet types are permitted access to networks and what packets are
permitted to leave, thus increasing the networkÂ’s security against exploits.
Another method of controlling access to Internet services is by using TCP wrappers.
