tribit - technical definition

Referring to a modulation technique that impresses three bits on a baud, so that the bit rate is triple the baud rate. Such a technique employs eight signal states. Quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) is a tribit technique achieved by defining two amplitude values for each of four phase shifts.
