Word macro - technical definition

A script that is executed within a Word document which adds some automatic function for the user. Macros can be created with the Word macro recorder, which stores repetitive keystrokes, or a small program can be written in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). The macro is executed when the document is opened. See Word macro virus and VBA.
