The ITU-T Recommendation for a packet assembler/disassembler (PAD) in a public data network (PDN). The PAD organizes the user data into packets according to the X.25 packet layer protocol (PLP) and encapsulates each in an LAPB frame before presenting it to the network. An ITU standard (1977) for a PAD (packet assembler/disassembler), which divides a data message into packets for transmission over a packet-switched network and reassembles them at the receiving side.
