Xohm - technical definition

Pronounced "zome," it is a high-speed, wireless network for Internet access from Sprint Nextel that is expected to debut in Chicago, Baltimore and Washington D.C. in 2008. Using the WiMAX transmission technology, Xohm is the first IEEE 802.16 deployment in the U.S. to compete with cable, DSL and cellular providers. Xohm is collaborating with Google in this venture with subscribers being able to search the Internet via Google and use cobranded versions of Google's mail, calendar, IM and voice services.
